Andre was a French tourist who boarded an American Airlines flight from Chicago to New York City during his first visit to the United States.

Biography[]

After Kevin mistakenly boards an American Airlines flight to New York after following a man wearing a coat similar to that of his father, a flight attendant told him to take a seat in coach next to Andre, who occupied a window seat and was reading a book or newspaper as the plane pushed back.[1]

When Kevin asked him if he had ever been to Florida, Andre answered in French, stating that he was a tourist on his first trip to the United States. He also added that he was not fluent in English and asked Kevin for some tips on the best tourist spots and the best restaurants. He then introduced himself as Andre and asked for Kevin's name, but Kevin, who did not understand French, didn't answer and instead listened to his Talkboy.[1]

Quotes[]

"What's that? I'm from France and I'm a tourist here, it's my first time coming to America. Do you know a good restaurant? or maybe your parents they know a good place? Why aren't you responding? You speak a bit of French right? I don't speak English at all, give me a bit of help at least. My name is Andre, what's your name?"

Trivia[]

  • His portrayer, Andre Lachaumette, is French Canadian.
  • In the French dub of the film, Andre is Spanish.
  • In the original script, Kevin follows Andre onto the plane like in the final cut but sits next to and talks to a female college student instead.
