He was asked by the store's clerk if the toothbrush Kevin McCallister wished to buy was approved by the American Dental Association, but he didn't know.[1] However, just as Marley entered the store, Kevin backed away from him with his toothbrush and ran out, so the clerk told fellow employee Jimmy to chase him, to which Kevin was chased by a police officer through a park and across a skating rink, but Kevin ran straight home without being caught.
