A currently untitled reboot of the Home Alone franchise was announced in August 2019, exclusively for the Disney+ streaming service.

This film will reportedly mark the first time Kevin McCallister appears in the franchise since Home Alone 4, although he won't be the leading protagonist. Marv and Harry reunite for the first time since Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Cast

Production

In October 2019, the film was reported to be written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidel. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson will be producing the film, with Dan Mazer in talks to direct. According to reports, the protagonist will be a nine-year-old boy named Max.[2]

In December, it was reported that Archie Yates would be playing the lead role, with Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper also in the cast.[3]

Some reports suggest that the project is labeled as a Home Alone project due to similarities in concept, but it will not bear the franchise name in its title.[4]

It was reported by some sources that Kevin McCallister, Buzz McCallister, Marv Murchins, and Harry Lyme, would appear, although it is unknown if the roles will be reprised by Macaulay Culkin, Devin Ratray, Daniel Stern, or Joe Pesci, respectively.[1]

Production of the film was put on hold in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]
