- The house' address is 671 Lincoln Ave and is located in Winnetka, IL 60093.
- Only a few interior scenes were filmed on location at 671 Lincoln Ave ndo because the production found it only suitable to film the exteriors
- The kitchen, along with the main staircase, basement, attic and most of the first floor landing, were filmed on location in the real house, thus making them only interiors to be featured in the film.
- Most of the house' interiors were recreated or duplicated on a sounstage built in the gymnasium of former campus of New Trier Township High School. This was done for the purpose of allowing more room for crew and equipment.
- An example of this is the enlarged version of the staircase and main foyer of the real house.
- The tree house in the backyard was specifically built for the film and dismantled after filming ended.
