Kevin McCallister accidentally followed an unidentified man to a plane bound for New York due to the latter having a passing resemblance and similar clothing to his father, Peter.

Mistaken for Peter[]

As the McCallister family made a chaotic dash at O'Hare International Airport to catch their American Airlines flight to Miami, Florida, Kevin stopped to replace batteries for his Talkboy, while the entire family continued to run, passing this man, who was purchasing an item at a duty-free stall. He took out his boarding pass from his coat and left upon hearing the final boarding announcement for a New York flight, hustling to said flight. In the process, the man blocked the view of Peter, which made Kevin, who called for his father to allow him to catch up, accidentally follow him to the flight that departed for New York City, as he wore an identical coat to Peter and had a similar hairstyle and build. As Kevin was escorted to the flight, he accidentally identified the man as his father, who was taking a seat in first class. A flight attendant told Kevin to find an empty seat in coach, and he sat next to a French man.[1]

Trivia[]

  • His role is similar to that of Mitch Murphy, the McCallisters' neighbor who appeared in the previous film, as both are mistaken by a McCallister for a family member due to the identical clothing that they wear and had similar hairstyles and builds. However, Murphy is the cause of Heather's miscounting as he is in the airport van with his back turned towards her during the headcount, making the latter inadvertently think that Kevin was with them and had left earlier to check the vans, while the Peter lookalike gets in Kevin's way at the terminal.
