Peter J. McCallister[1] was the father of Kevin, Buzz, Megan, Linnie, and Jeff McCallister. He was the brother of Frank and Rob McCallister as well as the husband of Kate McCallister.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Peter McCallister had two brothers, Frank and Rob McCallister.[2]
During his adulthood, he married Kate McCallister and the couple later resided in Winnetka, Illinois with their five children.[3]
Trip to Paris[]
While packing for the family vacation to Paris, Peter wondered to his wife how he was supposed to shave in France, to which she suggested he grow a goatee.[3]
Peter talked to Harry, who was disguised as a cop. Peter asked if he was under arrest, but Harry said no and that it was Christmas time and a lot of burglaries happened during the holidays and if the McCallisters' were taking proper precautions. Peter said that they had locks on their doors and automatic timers on their lights. Before Harry asked Peter when his family was leaving, Peter was pulled over by Buzz to eat pizza.[3]
Following an electrical outage, the family accidentally slept in. In the midst of their rush to leave, they left Kevin behind on accident.[3]
After arriving in France, having realized the family left behind Kevin, he tried to call their neighbors, including the Murphys, asking about Kevin and his whereabouts. He then told his brother, Frank, that he could not find anyone; they had all gone shopping, and that no one was home for the Christmas holidays.[3]
Later, after the family arrived back home on Christmas Day, after hearing that Kevin had gone shopping and got some milk, eggs and fabric softener, Peter remarked, "What else did you do while we were away?" Kevin replied that he "just hung around." Peter then found a gold tooth and wondered what it was.[3]
Trip to Florida[]
While preparing for the trip to Florida the following year, Peter looked for the batteries for a camcorder. As he found them, he accidentally reset his alarm clock.[2]
At that evening's Christmas pageant, when Buzz pulled a trick on Kevin using candlesticks, Peter, along with Kate, Leslie, the conductor. and the piano lady, was not laughing.[2]
Later, when Kevin tried to walk out of the family meeting, Peter threatened to send him to the third floor; however, he ultimately went by himself. Peter, along with Kate are shocked after Kevin calls Frank a cheapskate. The next morning, during the family's rush to their plane, Kevin accidentally boarded a flight to New York after following a man dressed like Peter.[2]
When the authorities alerted the McCallisters that Kevin had been found through the use of one of Peter's credit cards, the family readied for a trip to New York, wherein Peter assumed that Kevin took shelter at his brother's townhouse after being frightened by the hotel staff, thinking that the place is taken care of by a house-sitter, wherein Kate somewhat contradicts that they are still in Paris and the residence is being renovated. They traveled to New York and confronted the staff for letting Kevin check in without an adult and scaring him off and eventually stayed at the Plaza Hotel with Kate searching for Kevin alone. Then, after the bill from Kevin's original stay at the hotel came, Buzz read it and gave it to Peter, who then read the bill and yelled, "Kevin! You spent $967 on room service?!"[2]

Peter and Kate later separated and were planning to file for divorce. He began a relationship with Natalie Kalban and moved in with her.
After Peter decided to go back and check on Kevin after they got to the airport, he told Natalie that he could sense something was up. Natalie replied she thought it was unfair and said Peter knew how much she cared about kids, prompting Peter to reply, "How much do you care about my kid?"[4]
Later, after the bad guys had been arrested, Natalie asked Peter what Kevin did this time, and Peter replied that Kevin saved the day, so she should be thanking him and apologizing for not believing him. Then, after telling Natalie he mistook infatuation and excitement for love, and that the "smart house" and everything in it was her world and not his, he decided to get back together with Kate.[4]

- Peter is partially responsible for the events of Home Alone 2, because he removed the cable near the bed, while looking for the batteries, causing their clock to reset.
