"Look what you did, you little jerk! "

Frank McCallister to Kevin[src]

"Get out of here, you nosy little pervert, or l'm gonna slap you silly!"

Frank McCallister to Kevin[src]

Frank McCallister was the older brother of Peter and Rob McCallister, husband of Leslie McCallister, and the father of Tracy, Sondra, Brooke, and Fuller McCallister.

Biography[]

Trip to Paris[]

Frank lived in Ohio with his wife and children. Following his youngest brother Rob's relocation to Paris as part of a job promotion during a summer, Frank's nephew Rod, who was Rob's firstborn son, stayed with them to finish high school.[1][2] Before Christmas, Rob paid for the McCallister family to take a trip to Paris in order to be reunited for the holidays; Frank drove his family and Rod to his brother Peter's house in Winnetka to leave for the vacation together.[3]

While preparing to leave, Frank did not let his nephew Kevin watch a movie.[3]

Frank later retrieved pizza ordered by the family, but left the responsibility of paying for it to Peter. Later, while eating with the family, he tells his son, Fuller, they must be in bed early as they're leaving at 8:00am, Kevin got into a fight with his brother, Buzz, causing a giant mess in the kitchen, thus prompting Frank to call Kevin a "little jerk".[3]

The next day, after the family overslept due to an electrical outage, Frank rushed along with them to the airport. On their flight, Frank attempted to smuggle glassware, but was caught at the last minute. Later, after it was realized that Kevin was forgotten at home, Frank attempted to comfort his sister-in-law, Kate, by saying that he forgot his reading glasses.[3]

Later, at his brother Rob's Paris apartment, Frank found a shrimp appetizer and ignored his other sister-in-law Georgette's statements that the shrimp was going to be served later. He asked Peter if he had gotten anybody to check on Kevin, and Peter responded that no one was home for the holidays. [3]

Trip to Florida[]

A year later, he drove his family and Rod from Ohio to Chicago to tag with the other McCallisters for their trip to Miami, Florida. The night before the flight, he observed his son Fuller drinking a can of Coca-Cola, which he then snatched from him, saying, "Hey, hey, easy on the fluids, pal. The rubber sheets are packed", taking the soda for himself.[4]

Later, as Frank was taking a shower, Kevin entered to get his tie, catching sight of him horribly singing Cool Jerk, and decides to record him secretly. After Frank discovers Kevin, he yelled at him to leave, threatening to slap him for it.[4]

At a Christmas pageant the McCallister children performed in, Frank laughed at Buzz placing candlesticks behind Kevin's ears during his solo, despite Leslie's efforts to get him to stop laughing.[4]

After Kevin ruined the pageant by hitting Buzz (even though Buzz was the one who started it), the older brother apologized, but Kevin refused, knowing that his brother was lying and not sorry, prompting Frank to say, "You better not wreck my trip, you little sourpuss. Your dad's paying good money for it." Kevin then sassed Frank and called him "Mr. Cheapskate", much to his offense.[4]

In Miami, he was the only McCallister to not pass the bag to Kevin because of their argument the previous night, before the family discovered that Kevin was nowhere to be found as Kevin had gotten on the wrong plane at O'Hare Airport following a man who resembled his father who was wearing the same coat.[4]

When the family were forced to stay at the Villa de Dolphiné as Kevin had his father's credit card and a large amount of money that Peter brought for the trip to Miami while he was stranded in New York City, Frank remarked "It didn't look this bad on our honeymoon."[4]

Later, the family went to New York City to look for Kevin after the police contacted the family by saying that Kevin was located in that city by tracking Peter's credit card and spent their night in the Plaza Hotel after Peter and Kate confronted the staff for letting Kevin check in without an adult and scaring him off after making the discovery. After hearing Buzz's speech of their good fortune for being allowed to stay in the luxurious hotel thanks to Kevin, Frank applauded for Kevin and said, "OK, Kevin! Alright! Merry Christmas!" and then he went to open the presents with the rest of the McCallisters.[4]

Personality[]

Uncle Frank is a grumpy, self-entitled man, constantly thinking about his own needs and often looking on the negative side of things.

He's also shamelessly materialistic and greedy, constantly mooching off his brother and even tried to steal some champagne flutes including the salt and pepper containers on the flight to Paris.

Frank is particularly strict, cruel, intimidating, aggressive, antagonistic, and hostile towards Kevin. As such, Frank does things like not allowing Kevin to watch a film with the older kids. Frank can also be outright abusive to Kevin such as calling him a "little jerk" over the dinner incident or threaten to smack Kevin after catching Kevin spying on him in the shower. In addition, Frank tends to laugh at Kevin's expense such as when he is pranked by Buzz during the school pageant. However, Frank does have at least one moment of kindness towards Kevin when they are given the truckload of presents courtesy of Duncan's Toy Chest. Frank joins in with cheering for Kevin.

Trivia[]

  • In a deleted scene, Frank plays a prank on Kevin by saying that his nickname in France would be "yank" while he yanked Kevin's pants down.
  • In the script for Home Alone 2, Frank's full name is stated to be Francis.
  • In a still-unreleased deleted scene for Home Alone 2, as the McCallisters are about to board a flight to New York after learning Kevin was tracked down via Peter's credit card, Frank complained about Kevin ruining another family vacation, to which Peter and Kate stood up and told Frank to stop.
